Artist Agreement Summary

This page explains, in straightforward language, how Rainwater Studios works with recording artists. Final terms will be confirmed in a written agreement before a song is recorded or released.

The Songs

Rainwater Studios offers original lyrics presented through interpretive studio demos.

Each demo shows one possible melody, arrangement, and style. Artists may follow the demo, adapt it, or propose a new musical interpretation.

Rainwater Studios retains ownership of the original lyrics and any original music written by Rainwater Studios.

License to Record

A one-time $49 non-exclusive license gives an artist permission to record and release their own version of a selected song.

The artist may:

Create their own arrangement and production

Release the recording commercially or independently

Perform and promote their version

Use a different title, provided the original songwriting information remains connected to the release

Because the license is non-exclusive, more than one artist may record the same song.

Ownership and Revenue

The artist owns their finished master recording and controls its release.

The artist keeps all income connected to that master recording, including artist streaming income, downloads, and master-use licensing revenue.

Rainwater Studios does not claim ownership of the artist’s recording or take a percentage of the artist’s master-recording income.

Songwriting and Publishing

Rainwater Studios receives songwriting and publishing credit and royalties for the material it contributed.

When an artist contributes a substantially new melody, new lyrics, or other original songwriting, the credits and ownership shares will be discussed and agreed upon in writing before release.

Those agreed shares will determine how songwriting and publishing royalties are divided and registered. ASCAP recommends that collaborators agree to their shares in writing, and copyright law treats the underlying musical work separately from the finished sound recording.

Promotion

With the artist’s permission, Rainwater Studios may link to or feature the released recording on its website or social channels.

The artist will always be credited. Rainwater Studios will not sell, license, or monetize the artist’s master recording without separate written permission.

In Summary

Rainwater Studios provides the original song material.
The artist creates and owns the finished recording.
Each party keeps the income connected to what they own.
Any shared songwriting credit is agreed upon before release.

Final terms will be confirmed in a written agreement before a song is recorded or released.
