For a time, I worked on those songs with my friend Sam, a gifted guitarist. We rehearsed, played open mics, and began developing a band we called Fewer Days Ahead. The band did not fully come together, but the songs continued to grow.

Years later, new creative tools made it possible to explore those songs more fully—to hear them through expanded arrangements, instrumentation, and studio voices, while also preserving the songwriter performances that reveal how the songs began.

That process led to a clearer purpose. Neither the songwriter interpretations nor the studio demos were meant to be the final recordings. They were ways of presenting the songs to singers, bands, musicians, and producers who might hear something in them and make them their own.

Rainwater Studios was created as a home for that catalog.

Today, Rainwater Studios presents original songs through acoustic songwriter performances, interpretive studio demos, or both. Each version offers a different way into the song—revealing its melody, mood, character, and possibilities while leaving room for the right artist to take it somewhere new.
